Composition
Each tablet contains:
Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride ................................................... 30 mg
Chlorpheniramine maleate .............................................................. 3 mg
Propyphenazone ........................................................................... 200 mg
Therapeutic Indications
Symptomatic relief of common cold, upper respiratory tract congestion, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and Eustachian tube congestion.
Dosage and Administration
Adult dose: 1 tablet 3 times/day or as directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to any component. Patients with severe hypertension or severe coronary artery disease.
Warnings and Precautions
CONTA-FLU should be used with caution in:
Patients with hypertension, cardiac disease, diabetes, glaucoma, urinary retention, hyperthyroidism, and prostatic hyperplasia.
Pregnancy and lactation.
Drug Interactions
CONTA-FLU may enhance the sedative effects of CNS depressants such as hypnotics and sedatives.
Sympathomimetics interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and should not be given to patients receiving such treatment or within 14 days of its termination.
Effects on ability to drive and to use machines
As with other sedating antihistamines, patients who drive or operate machinery should be warned of the possibility of drowsiness.
Undesirable Effects
Drowsiness, nervousness, and dry mouth may occur.
Pharmacological Properties
CONTA-FLU is an effective formulation which ensures a prompt relief of symptoms due to common cold, flu, or other upper respiratory allergies.
Pseudoephedrine has a similar action to ephedrine but with negligible stimulating effects on CNS.
Chlorpheniramine maleate is a potent antihistamine and is used for the symptomatic relief of allergic conditions.
Propyphenazone has effective analgesic and antipyretic properties.
Pharmacokinetics:
CONTA-FLU components are absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract following oral administration. Pseudoephedrine and chlorpheniramine are metabolized in the liver. Unchanged components and metabolites are excreted primarily in the urine.
Storage
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
