Ministers of Health and Industry Inaugurate
EIPICO 3 for Biologicals and Biosimilars

July 26, 2026

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and His Excellency Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, inaugurated the EIPICO 3 factory at EIPICO Pharmaceuticals —a subsidiary of the ACDIMA Group—in 10th of Ramadan City on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Ali Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA); H.E. Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority; Dr. Nahed Youssef, Chairwoman of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA); Eng. Alaa Abdel Lah, Head of the 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority; along with distinguished guests and media representatives.

They were received by Dr. Olfat Ghorab, Chairwoman of the Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA), and Dr. Ahmed Kelani, Chairman and Managing Director of EIPICO Pharmaceuticals. During the visit, the two ministers and their accompanying delegation toured the factory’s production areas and reviewed the state-of-the-art technology incorporated into this new facility.

Overview of EIPICO 3 and EIPICO.

EIPICO 3 is the newest facility of EIPICO Pharmaceuticals. (an ACDIMA company).
It represents the first facility of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East to fully manufacture Biologicals and Biosimilars in-house, starting from genetically modified cell lines all the way to the final drug product.

The factory features advanced construction methodology, utilizing the Modular Construction Concept in collaboration with Swedish firm Pharmadule. Under this approach, key biological production units were manufactured, equipped, and tested abroad before being transported and installed locally, ensuring compliance with the highest international quality standards in both research and production areas.

Built over an area of 10,500 square meters in 10th of Ramadan City, EIPICO 3 represents an investment exceeding $100 million (approximately EGP 5.5 billion). The plant contributes to ensuring the sustainable availability of Biologicals and Biosimilars at affordable prices for Egyptian citizens—costing up to 40% less than imported equivalents while maintaining global quality standards. This facility marks a quantum leap in localizing Biologicals and Biosimilars manufacturing in Egypt and safeguarding national drug security.

EIPICO 3 will produce 14 products targeting oncology, hematology, fertility, renal diseases, and anemia. Production has commenced after securing the necessary licenses from the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), starting with the production of “ADALIMAB”, followed by “TRASTUZA”.

EIPICO Pharmaceutical Company was established in 1980 and currently operates three manufacturing factories over 130,500 square meters. With 59 production lines, the company produces 425 pharmaceutical products and holds a production capacity of 327 million units, employing 5,000 workers.

Last year, EIPICO achieved total production valued at EGP 10.8 billion and total sales of EGP 9.3 billion. EIPICO exports to more than 60 countries worldwide, recording $60 million in exports last year. It ranks first among Egyptian pharmaceutical exporters, accounting for 25% of Egypt’s total medicine exports and 30% of total pharmaceutical exports to Africa, with a local component ratio reaching 60%.

Furthermore, EIPICO recently announced the successful carbon footprint measurement across its EIPICO 1 and EIPICO 2 facilities—becoming the first pharmaceutical company in Egypt to achieve this milestone as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Capping off its digital transformation strategy, the company also recently announced its roadmap to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all operations as Egypt's pioneering pharmaceutical company in this domain. This follows its successful full digital transformation over the past two years using an integrated system of 6 specialized modules based on SAP S/4HANA, digitizing all production, quality control, financial, administrative, supply chain, and product traceability processes in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
